Hardcore Office

On my return after the MIP taking 2 weeks off, a surprise awaited me... A big pile of work in the shape of Table Mountain nicely stacked for me to do with inhuman deadlines. I can now say I am champ of the Autocad Monkey world, completing almost everything, I am over the worst part!

checking in

Life at the office has been busier than ever before! deadlines of projects, meetings to to go to, departures to handle, council submissions to take of etc etc. I'm stil learning a lot every day and my responsibility at the office is growing. Nothing to complain about here, over n out.

Good times

We got a new intern in the office which resulted in me getting a semi-promotion in job responsiblility... She takes on the jobs I used to do and I finally started doing difficult tasks like details and sections of big warehouses and houses. I even got my own clients now. Busy sorting out a departure (lengthy process) but very good experience.

I'm back

Today is the Tuesday. The big day of knowing there's still a lot to come. I already have my responsibilities all piled up and ready to draw... just wish I can get a real challenge like sections of complex buildings with technologies I have little experience with.

Anyway, lifes good, office seems happy and I am off to good start

Action in the office

I have officially gotten my own project where I had to design a balcony with timber slated balustrade, alter the current boundary wall and gate to match the timber slates as well as design a timber slated solar screen around the stairs towards the front entrance. I designed stacking doors where the one side has top-hung casing windows that could unlatch and open up as another panel.
This project has been quite exciting thus far and experiential.

Days of our lives

Aaah the beginning of another week... yesterday I had to find copies of plans of a building that had plans since the 1960s! The lady at the Kraaifontein council counter started by giving me a whole pile of folders with that erf number. I who didn't know what I was looking for only had the Erf number, area name and street name. I got so confused with all the plans that felt like it would disintegrate in my hands! After about lets say the whole morning of looking in their storerooms, I finally figured out that its the same building that has just been altered throughout the years. I finally got the latest plans of 2005 and walked out of their with a copy that was made to me for free :) I guess after all it was all worth it.

Getting the hang of it

I am now at the point where im more comfortable with the staff. Im working on all sorts of different projects. My mornings usually start off with council/clients trips. then i do draughting or packaging or ammendments in office.
Id like to receive more jobs where i need to draw details or junctions so i can get a better understanding of different technologies though.

Monday madness

Today was quite a hectic day with lots of tasks to be done and being all over the show. I learned that I should prioritise the projects being worked on and tasks to be handled and communication is a key to prevent conflict
